Chicken Little chickens out

According to the website Climate Depot:

Washington, DC — UK’s Lord Christopher Monckton, a former science advisor to Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher, claimed House Democrats have refused to allow him to appear alongside former Vice President Al Gore at a high profile global warming hearing on Friday April 24, 2009 at 10am in Washington. Monckton told Climate Depot that the Democrats rescinded his scheduled joint appearance at the House Energy and Commerce hearing on Friday. Monckton said he was informed that he would not be allowed to testify alongside Gore when his plane landed from England Thursday afternoon.

“The House Democrats don’t want Gore humiliated, so they slammed the door of the Capitol in my face,” Monckton told Climate Depot in an exclusive interview. “They are cowards.”

Conservative thoughts on conservation on Earth Day 2009

This isn’t going to be some profound treatise on conservation and the environment, but I thought I might offer an opinion as to what I think conservatives should do about conservation and the environment. I found it appropriate to discuss this issue on – you guessed it – Earth Day 2009.

First and foremost, as technology improves and science advances, I believe that we should actively pursue alternative forms of energy. We must understand that the natural resources we currently use to fuel our homes, our cars, and other aspects of society will not continue to supply us indefinitely. We must be proactive in seeking out and researching these new and alternative forms of energy; however, I do not believe that government resources and funding should go to develop these programs. Viable alternatives should thrive in the marketplace. Entrepeneurs and businessmen and women will invest capital and resources into wind power, solar energy, and fuels like ethanol and hydrogen.

Secondly, imposing restrictive legislation on automakers and other industries artificially affects the market. Environmentalists cannot expect the American economy to grow and improve by asking us to immediately switch ou renergy usage from its existing forms to untested and unreliable forms that are currently being developed in the labratory. A slow shift toward these new sources of energy is best.

And briefly on Al Gore: if the environmental movement would drop Al Gore and stop shouting about “man-made global warming,” which recently became “man-made global climate change,” then I think more conservatives would warm up (no pun intended) to the notion of environmental conservation. So long as far left elements of the environmental movement are running the show, count us out.

How Al Gore Celebrated Earth Hour

Al Gore's House

As most of you know, just over two years ago, my organization, the Tennessee Center for Policy Research, found that the knuckleheaded leader of the global warming alarmism movement, Al Gore, consumes 20 times more electricity in his home than the average American household.

Since Earth Hour was recognized today, Saturday, March 28 from 8:30-9:30pm, I thought I’d see how the hypocritical, fear-mongering former Veep was celebrating at his home.

I pulled up to Al’s house, located in the posh Belle Meade section of Nashville, at 8:48pm – right in the middle of Earth Hour. I found that the main spotlights that usually illuminate his 9,000 square foot mansion were dark, but several of the lights inside the house were on.

In fact, most of the windows were lit by the familiar blue-ish hue indicating that floor lamps and ceiling fixtures were off, but TV screens and computer monitors were hard at work. (In other words, his house looked the way most houses look about 1:45am when their inhabitants are distractedly watching “Cheaters” or “Chelsea Lately” reruns.)

The kicker, though, were the dozen or so floodlights grandly highlighting several trees and illuminating the driveway entrance of Gore’s mansion.

I [kid] you not, my friends, the savior of the environment couldn’t be bothered to turn off the gaudy lights that show off his goofy trees.

The picture above is an example of the floodlights that were burning through Earth Hour, which is supposedly “lights off” time for those who get their rocks off by telling children that they will be burned alive because of the use of ventilators, refrigerators and cars. (The “312” is his address – 312 Lynnwood Blvd.)

If you’re unfamiliar, Earth Hour is where socialists and patchouli-dabbing tree-hugging hippies unite to dismiss electricity, fossil fuels and the modern conveniences that allow for historically unrivaled prosperity, longevity, health and quality of life throughout the world.

Thankfully, most of the Kool-Aid drinkers that participated in Earth Hour undoubtedly spent the hour on their couch or on their porch reflecting how solitary, poor, nasty, brutish and short life would be without electricity.

Feel free to comment and let me know what you think of this latest example of Al Gore’s hypocrisy. Or man up and tell me that I made you cry because I told you that Earth Day is for mouth-breathing douchetards.

Al Gore Update: Apparently Mr. Johnson’s assessment of Gore’s Earth Hour activities upset the former Vice President, and his spokeswoman issued a statement.

They aren’t perfect, no family is, but they do their best, year-round to try to make a difference at home and across the country to make a difference on the climate crisis.
