MTSU Restricts Commerce, Dwight’s Future Uncertain
MTSU, in its ever-expanding quest for nanny-statism on campus, informed Dwight Johnson, owner of Dwight’s Mini-Mart, that he could no longer sell cigarettes as of February 15.
“It’s going to have an impact on my sales,” said Johnson. “A lot of people who normally come in here to get tobacco products will have to go off campus.”
What will they think of next?

Gordon <3’s Big Government, Pork
Gordon supported the stimulus plan because he believes “we are at the defining moment in this economic crisis,” said his spokesman Kinsey Kiriakos.
…
“This bill had too many congressional pet projects and too few of President Obama’s plans for jump-starting the economy,” Cooper said. “I hope the next version of the bill stays closer to its purpose: helping America recover from the worst economic downturn since the Great Depression.”
Can we run a credible Republican against him? C’mon.

Kent Williams’ Soviet Connection
Late night musing…
Some people (mostly Democrats) commented that the move to elect Kent Williams as Speaker of the House was a politically genius move. In some instances, people even called Kent Williams a genius. I beg to differ.
I would categorize Williams as – what is often attributed to V. I. Lenin – a “useful idiot.” Quite simply, the Democrats installed Williams because they knew they couldn’t win with a Democrat nominee for Speaker. Williams – the fairweather Republican (at best) – gladly accepted the opportunity to be the sacrificial RINO in this instance, completely oblivious to the fact that the Democrats would nominate him out of sheer political convenience, not because they actually agreed with many of his positions.
It’s just funny to me.

Changewatch 9.0: Family Planning + Poor Economy = Government Funded Abortions
I’m only going to comment briefly on this story from Drudge Report where House Speaker Nancy Pelosi danced ever-so-delicately around the issue of taxpayer-funded abortions in the upcoming stimulus package.
She says:
… the family planning services reduce cost. They reduce cost. The states are in terrible fiscal budget crises now and part of what we do for children’s health, education and some of those elements are to help the states meet their financial needs.
As families have more children, their financial expenditures increase - as a direct relation to those births. Pelosi and House and Senate Democrats would rather “reduce cost,” which essentially means that – according to elements within the stimulus package – the state (i.e. the taxpayers) should support and fund abortions, particularly for poor people.
This is absolutely disgusting. Please. Discuss.
